Anastasia Heil

Anastasia Heil – began her dance career at age 7 after seeing the Nutcracker Suite. She studied Ballet until high school. During high school, Anastasia was on her
school dance team for three years as both performer and choreographer. While in college she studied Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, Improvisation and Theatre, and has performed in all styles. She earned a minor in Dance from the University of North Texas.

More recently, Anastasia trained in Ballroom Dance under Mary Murphy, a renowned National and International Ballroom Dance Champion and Judge on the hit TV show “So You Think You Can Dance.” Anastasia taught Ballroom Dance for two years at a ballroom in San Diego and worked for an arts academy for one and-a-half years teaching ballet, tap and creative dance to children. In addition, Anastasia had her own dance instruction business for 2 years. She has been teaching Ballroom Dance for four years. The dances she teaches are Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Salsa, Rumba, Cha-Cha, Samba, Merengue and Swing.

Wednesday Night Dancing

Need a little fun during the work week? Come dancing. Mary Manzella is one of the most known and best instructors around. You are sure to have a good time learning and dancing all in one night. Enjoy an evening of Ballroom, Latin and Swing Music.

Thursday Night Dancing

Tangralaa..! with Joe Chepetsky. Beginning at 9:30pm and going till 1am, enjoy a late night of Argentine Tango Dancing.

Saturday Night Dancing

Marcus Johnson

Marcus Johnson – was born and raised in California. It was his destiny to dance; his parents are Patrick and Wendy Johnson, award winning dance team and world-class judges. They are also the owners of 7 Arthur Murray studios.

Marcus started dancing when he was 7 years old and is considered one of the rising talents in Latin dance. By age 8 Marcus was on the Merv Griffin Show dancing a Cha-Cha. Marcus has been teaching Ballroom and Latin for 6-1/2 years and been competing professionally for 3 years. Marcus won the Rising Star Award at the Hawaiian Star Ball.

During his career he has made the finals of many competitions in the United States including 4th in the Rising Star division at the Heritage Ball, as well as becoming a finalist in the rising star category at the Ohio Star Ball. In Florida, Marcus won the Latin Open at the Sunshine State Competition. Marcus has performed in many shows including a show for the MGM Grand Casino on New Years Eve.

Linda Garwood

Linda Garwood is originally from Mexico and is now permanently residing in San Diego. She has been dancing and studying tango since 1998 and has been teaching since 2002. She teaches strictly social tango both from the leader’s and follower’s perspective in both traditional salon tango and the more intimate Milonguero style.

She has traveled extensively to complement her training, learning from well known Argentine masters such as: Facundo Posadas, Guillermo Merlo, Fernanda Ghi, Sergio Cortazzao, Stella Barba, Graciela Gonzalez and many more. Most recently she has trained in the Milonguero style with Susana Miller, Argentina’s foremost teacher in this style.

Linda has been in Buenos Aires twice, both times spending a month perfecting her dancing technique and investigating different teaching methodologies. The Argentine influence can be felt and seen in her approach to teaching Tango. Posture, connection and musicality are emphasized extensively through all her classes. Technique is always the focus point of her teaching. She strongly believes in a solid foundation and complete understanding of the basics of the dance.

Jim Cruzen & Margie Adams are San Diego’s most popular, longest standing swing dance team. For 10 years they have been spreading their passion for “all things swing” to the dance floor, the class room, performance stages and dance halls across SD. They’re truest hope is that when people see them dance, take a class or come to one of their events, they will get a taste for the joy that is dancing together. Swing is about happiness, improvisation and connection. 2toGroove has been built on the motto: “It takes two – 2 to groove!” So come out, connect, and make new friends, – share and have a good time!

2toGroove Dance was founded in 1999 with the goal of promoting swing dance through instruction and events. For nearly 10 years, Jim & Margie have accomplished those goals by maintaining the largest offering of well-attended swing classes, dance parties and special events. They’ve traveled extensively and teach in Europe. Locally they’re famous for having run the “Rocket Swing Club” and establishing the “Halloween Monster Swing Jam”.

2toGroove has also kept swing dance in the public spotlight. Jim & Margie have performed around San Diego for events such as the Grand Opening of the Balboa theater downtown, Classics for Kids Concerts, Celebrate Dance Festival, Chula Vista outdoor concerts, and other public events. 2toGroove is also a favorite among San Diego’s corporations for swing dance entertainment. Over the years, they’ve helped create successful swing themed parties for companies such as Qualcomm, 1-800 Flowers, GreatCall Inc., the City of Carlsbad, 1st Pacific Bank, La Jolla Country Club and other top notch companies. Finally, 2toGroove has organized a student performance team called the Jazzcats who perform at community events, senior homes and non-profit events. They bring cheers and smiles wherever they perform!

Summer and Spice Showcase Triumphs!

It was a sold out show with standing room only! A true showcase of talent, dedication and passion for the art of dance. There were several aspects of the evening that stood out to the audience.
Pat and Andy’s rumba was truly touching and sweet! The dance made all the sweeter because this is the first time that Andy has performed since his stroke 2 years ago. What a comeback for this couple!
During the pro show the audience was favored with performances from Shawn and Jill with their creative Hip-Hop/W. Coast Swing, from Marcin and Asuka from “So You Think You Can Dance” and from Marcus and Yuki who are currently ranked in the top 10 for Latin Dancing in the World.
This was the biggest showcase that Dance For 2 has ever put on with 17 student performances and 6 proshows! With routines depicting nerds becoming saucy cha-cha dancers and an elegant waltz that brought tears to the eyes of more than one audience member. The energy was so high that no one wanted to leave at the end of the night, preferring to talk, enjoy and relive the evening! According to Shawn, “It is going to be tough to top this showcase next year!”

Martin Tomaszewski

Martin Tomaszewski began his Ballroom and Latin training at age of 13, studying International Style 10 Dance Ballroom and Latin in Gdansk, Poland. He has been dancing for 15 years during which he had privilege of working with the World renowned coaches such as Hans Galke, Lorraine, Colin James, Richard Porter, Karen Hardy and many others. His talent and passion for Ballroom and Latin American Dancing took him all over the world where he participated at the best competitions in Europe like Blackpool, UK Open,Universal, Imperial and America North American Championships,and the Snow Ball Classic.

Martin’s determination and hard work paid him off with numerous titles including Closed Canadian Championships Finalist, California Open Finalist, 3rd place at North American Championships, Colorado Star Ball Champion, Phoenix People’s Choice Champion, San Diego Rising Star Champion.

After 3 years of studying Ballroom Dancing in London, England, in 2006 Martin moved to San Diego where he teaches in local studios. Martin brings to his dancing and dance instruction focus on musicality, dynamics and fun, based on his natural dance talents. He is passionate about helping people express themselves through dance.
